Our mission is to cut through the noise and surface the providers that consistently deliver on their promises. Every review is independent, every score is research-backed, and every recommendation is one we'd give a family member shopping for protection on their own home.
Each company is scored on a 100-point scale across seven weighted categories. Final scores are normalized to a 10-point scale for easier reading.
Final scores reflect a blend of objective data (publicly available pricing, contracts, BBB ratings) and our own analysis of customer experience reports. We refresh the rankings every six months and post updates whenever a major company changes its coverage terms.
Our reviewers are not employees of any home warranty company. Editorial rankings are determined exclusively by the methodology described above — they are not influenced by advertising relationships, commission rates, or any provider request. We document our scoring trail and are happy to share methodology details upon request.
The Home Warranty Guide is supported by referral commissions. When a reader clicks certain outbound links to a provider's quote page and ultimately purchases a plan, we may receive a referral fee at no additional cost to the reader. This is how we keep the site free to use.
To repeat: compensation does not influence our rankings. Several of our top-ranked providers — including First Premier — have referral relationships with us; several do not. The companies that scored at the top of our 2026 review did so on the merits, before any commercial considerations were taken into account.
